Ai yay Captain!!

My homecoming is more meaningful when I get to watch "Pirates of the Caribbean" last night with my sis and our friend, Noella. Johnny Depp is fantabulous! I think I seriously fall in love with him,or is it Captain Jack Sparrow? Hahah…

I’ve filled this trip with my endless cravings, the best was the chicken mee and Sunny Hill peanut sundae. Yummy??

The plan today is to pay a visit to a friend who just delivered a beautiful baby girl 2days ago. And also Eydel promised to bring me for karaoke. Yee Ha!!

I guess I’ll update later.
Ai Yay Captain!!

Hometown, Couch Potato and a book club

I’m counting days to be back in my hometown. My home sweet home…why is there ’sweetness’ in our own home? Well, let me tell you something about my hometown and  to clarify with some friends of mine who find it difficult to understand why is there a need for Sabrina to come back.

Firstly, my family. This is the strongest reason yet. My family means the world to me; especially my Mak. Ask my sisters and they’d know exactly why.Apiz_lebeh I want to meet the grown-up Pipiz too!

Secondly, my house. There’s something about my house in Kuching that exudes warmth and coziness. I feel safe, loved and sheltered. The neighborhood, although there’s nothing to be hoohah-ed about but it never fails to welcome me…
Thirdly, of course the food. Mak’s cooking, satay Cekor, terubok masin, mee kolok, laksa, manok panggang, tomato mee, pulut pasong, celorot, and the list goes on…oh, don’t forget Sugar Bun, our very own premium fast food.
Next, the regular-places. Teck Kong, where I get all my necessities,Kenyalang, da place 4 audio visual essentials (if u know what I mean…), pasar minggu where I can get practically everything?? Pasir Pandak, da place to catch beautiful sunset,TopSpot & Buntal, the best oyster omelette’s ever! India Street, Hopoh, open air…these are all my favorite places in the whole world (not that I’ve been to the entire world, but I just knew it…)
Lastly, of course the people. My friends, my relatives, those at the morning market, hawkers selling banana fritters along Semariang and even the guys who sell terubok masin. Sarawakians are the best Malaysian, I dare say.

Still…about 1 more week to go. I’m dead boring in this apartment. I watched ‘Brokeback Mountain’ thrice 4 crying out loud! And it’s a sad movie indeed. And I never fail to have my daily doses of ‘The Breakfast Show‘(who wouldn’t want to wake up to Daphne Iking eh?), SpongeBob (or is it spansbob as pronounced) the Malay version in Tv9, as well my fav sinetron ‘Mutiara Hati‘ plus a Chines soap, ‘Falling in Love’… Now that there’s ‘Manjalara’ and ‘Emil Emilda’ I insist on adding those to my personal TV Guide as well, I think by the end of the semester break I am officially certified as ‘Desperate Housewife cum Couch Potato’ of Red Ruby lane!

At the moment I’m still waiting for the ‘other’ housewife. She’s not done with her wedding reception though. I thought that if she’s around maybe the both of us can pick up a hobby rather than staying at home enlarging our tush! I thought of jogging or strolling around whatever park available. Swimming is also on the list but too bad I’ve got no proper swimwear to put on… And it’s a shame that shopping is not an option cuz neither of us is married to any Royal’s descendant nor Tan Sri’s son.
Oh well, perhaps that can come sooner or later, ehh not the marrying part but the shopping thing! Geez…u guys. Anyway Nis (yes, she’s the other housewife), if you’re reading this lets start our analysis on "Tuesdays with Morrie" ya? We’ve been reading it like the back of our hands so I think we should start our own book club, starting with Mitch Album, followed by Cecelia Ahern and Kinsella. Yeehah! Lets!

Oh wait…now where did I put those books?…….

Anniversary, Nasi Ayam & Spiderman3

Wed1

Yes, yesterday(30th April) was my 2nd wedding anniversary. Two years of married life, hehe… I must say it was a bumpy journey, if it wasn’t accompanied by high tolerance, patience and lots of love; marriage is a  knot a couple should not tie for fun. Kak Ieda was among the early wishers. Thanks Kak Ieda, Happy anniversary 2 you and abang Azri too.We didn’t celebrate yesterday as I was mourning for my EDU3201 paper, it was difficult and I couldn’t score a definite answer… my stomach is still churning badly when I think of it. Arggh… anywayz, hubby came up with this home-style celebration by ‘commanding’ me to cook Nasi Ayam. His reason, "Sik pernah rasa gik kitak molah nasik ayam" (oh yes, hubby and I really speak Sarawak at home) aww how can I say No to that?… Right after exam, firstly I went to find Puan Ju to confirm the date for EDU3202but as usual, she’s nowhere to be found. Maybe Puan Ju is like Jeniffer Garner in ALIAS, a double agent; a spy perhaps (heheh, ampun Puan Ju, just goofing around) after a few ‘good’ minutes loitering in front of her room then I decided it was pointless to do so, hence I zoomed straight to Perodua to have my Alya serviced (and that’s a new story altogether…).

Contented with an optimum functioning gear, I did some "Nasi Ayam" ingredient-shopping at Jusco (I added Oreo Double Cream to my cart…) with a big smile, "I am so cooking Nasi Ayam tonight!" while at it, I felt a bit dozy as I have not sleep since the nite before. I grabbed a Coke, lifted the tab and gulp the whole can on the spot  ; then I felt so refreshed.

Equipped with a recipe my cousin gave me, I started preparing my anniversary Nasi Ayam. It wasn’t difficult really, but I wish I had a nook like Martha Stewart in my kitchen, cooking Nasi ayam would be more pleasurable wouldn’t it? Then I recall hubby saying, "Kita mesti bersyukur dengan apa yang kita ada" I erased that thought and focused 100% on my sumptuous Nasi Ayam. Surprisingly hubby came back early. The first thing he said,"Apa bau nyaman gilak tok?" [Translation: "What's this good smell?"] If only you could see the smile on my face, exactly like the one Siti had on when her father approved Dato’ K! I put a Chef’s presentation to my Nasi Ayam and we enjoyed the night till he asked, "How’s exam?" Like cymbal banged on my ears, "Let’s not talk about that" I reckoned. He probably sensed my uneasiness and compensated with an implied compliment, "Next time Mama and Abah datang awak masak nasik ayam ni tau" Ha…I had that Siti’s smile again. Felt so good.

Today, post-wedding-anniversary celebration.
We went to IMAX Berjaya Time Square to catch ‘Spiderman-3′,the most anticipated movie of the year. Prior to that I bought Cheryl Samad’s debut album at Watson’s. Yes, I’m a big fan. Hubby was pretty disappointed that this time around Spidey was conflict-coated, and a no-action-drama. He kept on checking his watch and whining why he didn’t get the popcorn in the 1st place… As for me, I looked at it as a piece of literature and quite amazed how the conflicts are intertwined and reached to one point of which it met my great expectation. (Not gonna say it here cuz it’d be a spoiler) My fellow TESLians, go watch it, Tobey McGuire and James Franco have never looked that yummy…Then we strolled around the golden triangle reminiscing the boyfriend-girlfriend days we had years ago. Deeply I wish my next anniversary I’d have a stroller to push with an adorable child in it. InsyaAllah.

Well, that’s another anniversary for me. I wonder how did my parents celebrate their 26-anniversaries? Amazing, I must say.

Happy anniversary Sayang. Thank you for loving me as I am.
Sabrina.
