A late bloomer, that’s me.

Thanks for dropping by. Just some stuff that I had in mind.

Superman & ‘The Jakun’

One more week to go before semester reopens. I’m still in my comfort zone, nurturing my hybernate mode. Lie-ins happen everyday of the month. TV has become a very dear companion of mine, my cooking has tremendously improved & my cats becoming more attached to me… No, this holiday; although a boring one, I can never let it go. Simply because I’m horrified of the new semester. Somebody please, spare me words of wisdom to why I should be back to UPM and meet Dr.Ed. Huhuhuhuuuuu( sob *_* sob…) Allah give me all the strength…Amin.

Hubby was super duper nice last nite. He got me GOLD CLASS tickets to watch SUPERMAN RETURNS. As Jakun as I always be, I was all excited although the show was at 12.45am! We drove to 1-Utama(my fav retails!) at around 11.00pm, in time to collect the reserved tickets supposedly released by 12.00am. It was unbelievably packed! Caught a glimpse of Khai AF as well as Yasmin Hani waaacchaa. She’s with her beau, and she was not wearing any make-up…eeewww, I must say. That bareface + yuck attitude = not-so-nice. She was all mushy with her boyfriend, I found my hubby mumbled,"Get a room" Padan muka, kan dah kena ngomel dgn suami aku…. Fast forward, GOLD CLASS rocks!! I mean there’s a reason why the price is like that. The ambience was so inviting and you can even rent a blanket for the price of RM5. I maintained my composure, don’t want to really show my ‘kejakunan’. However hubby sensed it, quikly he offered; "Would you like a blanket?" "Tak nak." (chey, control, padahal nak sangat2). It’s almost 12.45pm, so I went to the F&B counter to order some snacks. It really spoiled my night when the waitress told me that the Superman Combo has to be purchased at the outside counter. "Damn, look at the queue…there goes my night" I settled for a small caramel popcorn and an ice-blended hazelnut cappucino instead. Yummy?!

[THOSE WHO HAVE NOT WATCHED SUPERMAN RETURNS, ABANDON THIS PARAGRAPH PLEASE, CUZ IT'S A SPOILER] Movie started. Yawwwnnnn… It’s dead boring. The only reason I kept my eyes open was because of Brandon; ohh what a hunk!! He’s the total resurrection of Christopher Reeves. Funny though, I was scrutinizing the illogical aspects of the film during the lagging hours. Clark Kent’s/SUPERMAN hair is well kept throughout the movie, I swear it was glosswaxed when he’s in the hospital. Lois Lane is in fact the woman of steel herself cuz she didn’t break a skin during any of the accidents. And boy she endures the cold breeze when Superman carried her and flew around the city;she’s barefooted mind you. Luthor is not as smart as the one in Smallville but undeniably cunning and cruel with a collection of whacky hairwig! Mean. mean, mean.SUPERMAN and Lois Lane has a son,hmm what do you know haa (waah making out with a superhero! I wonder!!!) …Clever of him(the kiddo) to kill the crook with a piano to save his mommy’s life.Martha Kent is wayyyy tooo old!! Is she supposed to look that wrinkled?? Seriously, this film is not worth the GOLD CLASS screen. However…Did I mention to you the chairs? Oh so cool, now I know why Rachel and Joey(F.R.I.E.N.D.S) fight over these chairs. They’re so comfy…And my ‘kejakunan’ unleashed itself the moment I enjoyed myself operating ‘DA’ chair.

So much for the man of steel. Maybe my expectation was too high of this film and baamm! It didn’t make to my MUST-HAVES DVD collection. I enjoyed cuddling with my Mr.Cupcake though. Remind me lots of my courting days.

I think Pirates of the Carribean 2 deserves a premiere class screening. Maybe I’m gonna catch it with Anis & Fety. I’d rather plan my moviethon than my classes next semester…sigh……….Bring it on!

Siti, Putri and MELAYU.

Finally, I get to see CT in person. How can I not love her? She’s enticing, literally intoxicating. Firstly I must thank ANIS for informing me on Ct’s performance. If it wasn’t because of her maybe Ct will always stay dusty on the list of people I have to meet before I die. Mawi, Dr. Mahathir, Ning, Dayang, Siti Nurhaliza; checked. Still on the list are Oprah Winfrey, Drew Barrymore, Cheryl Samad, my old friend Kitty Chan, Kris Dayanti and Sheahnee Lee(ntv7 news presenter). Humm… when will i get to meet them. The late Princess Diana used to be on the list as well as Allahyarham Sudirman Hj. Arshad.

There’s this one particular thing happens when you’re star struck. For me, naturally I’ll become perplexed and lost for words. All I could say to Siti was that she looks beautiful. Probably she’s thinking; "Say something I don’t know?" Why do we always say the dumbest thing when you finally at the upperhand of meeting the stars? Now I know being a broadcast journalist is definitely out of my league. Anyway, CT is so sweet and very friendly. I really treasure this moment. Thank You Anis.

Did u watch ‘Gol & Gincu the series’ last nite? I never knew it can be such a HUGE dilemma if you’re told you’re not Melayu enough. And when Putri(played by cute Fazura) goes the extra mile just to impress her beloved by wearing baju kurung & speaking Melayu baku; it got me nauseated…Love is not love when you have to change to a somebody you’re not. And he, Mr. Lovey Dovey must accept you as you are, Melayu tulen or not. The problem with the script last nite, maybe Rafidah(3R) shouldn’t brought up the issue of not being Melayu enough, instead it’d be wise to highlight on being Easternize, more general. And it’ sad when there this line when Zie(character played by Rafidah 3R) asked Putri about being a pure Malay, Putri casually(seems aloof) replied; "…suka dengki2, pemalas, santun,…"
What annoyed me so much is that why the negative traits must come first before the nice things? Kesian, kalau bukan orang Melayu sendiri yang tak membela imej bangsanya sendiri, siapa lagi? Think about it.

And i asked my hubby last nite, "Would it bother you if you see me hugging my male friends as gestures of greeting?’
Pronto,"Yes."
"Well, there I have it, a pure breed of Melayu."I thought.
"We’re Muslims. Remember that." now, where does that come from? Of course I know I’m a Muslim. This is the thing about my hubby, he’d say something that’ll make me disregard the issue at once although I have much to say about it.

I guess, being Melayu or not, we must always remember the faith we embrace as well as our Nationality. Siti Nurhaliza is an epitome of a genuine Malaysian and a succesful Malay nation.
‘Gol & Gincu’, better script next time. I love Fazura though, she’s so It.

Just  to let you know, I’m a Melanau(pribumi Sarawak) however, I don’t know the language but still I go around admitting I’m one. It’s not about what race you’re made of but more to who you are as a person. It all boils down to how much you’ve contributed to this world.

Thinking hard, my kids will be Malays just like their father; how do I make sure that they won’t turn up like the Malays that are so ill-described by Putri? Is this why all the M’sian ministers send their children to study abroad? An escapism from these whimsical traits?? Hmmm…

F is for F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S FRIDAY!!

Am supposed to type this entry on Saturday but I’ve really got no time to even switch on the notebook, what more to find time to update my blog! Determined to update it by today, I make sure that the house chores will end by 3pm today, indeed; I suceed. However, I missed on Oprah at 1pm. It’s alright, there’ll always be a rerun.

Friday was GREAT with a sugar-coated ‘G’. The nite prior to my eventful Friday, I received an SMS from a good friend telling me that the exam result is finally out. "Check through SMS" he typed. Without delay; but shivering like an after-bathe-kitten I sent a msg to 39777. In less than a few seconds, I got a reply. Normally I would instantly open up my inbox but this time around I froze. I took a deep breath and a good stare at my handphone, thinking; "The Almighty loves me in any way, even if I didn’t do well"  My thumb instantly pressed the button and boy… Alhamdulillah, my result was not bad afterall. It definitely goes beyond my expectation and the 1st person I informed about it was of course my dear cupcake, Mr.Hubby. "I’m proud of you", and that was all I need to hear.

Fast forward to FAB Friday, I decided to go to Kinokuniya to get the indexed notebooks that I’ve been eyeing since last semester. Hubby gave a lil’ incentive and suggested that I should splurge and indulge myself after all the hard work had paid off. Can’t say NO to that now can I? He dropped me at Asia Jaya Putra station and off I zoomed to KLCC. Funny, after quite some times I’ve abandoned public transport, I was totally psyched. Reminiscent of my courting days, the smell of the train still remains the same. Missing hubby already.

Here’s a brief shopping aqueduct:-

Kinokuniya Bookstore: notebooks, OK magazine

My Little Penang cafe’: Penang Hokkien Prawn Mee & iced barley; met my sis’s friend who’s part-timing there, she gave a special seat and I get to cut the long Q, poor thing to those who were still in the line with their stomach growling, but so was I. Sorry..

Isetan: Wedding gifts for a dear friend, wrapper & a pencil case; aimed on a pair of shoes

Parkson: Wondering hard why this Parkson is so exclusive…the paperbag is so nice!; tried on a T’Le Clerc blusher, looks great on me but very pricey!!!

ESPRIT: Always in love with this store, didn’t buy anything though

SASA: Reapplied my lipstick and dabbed a lil’ bit of J_Lo’s perfume

A&W: Drained, exhausted feet; ordered waffle with ice-cream using the coupon I got from R&R Ayer   Keroh

Sony Style: Hubby asked me to survey a new digi cam cuz ours now is SO Yesterday; aimed one cyber-shot

La Senza: The latest G-string was not bad, but the price is

Mark & Spencer: Aimed a bath gel, orange blossom.

Then time’s up. Went back to Asia Jaya station and waited for my hubby to pick me up. After 3 weeks of hybernating at home, going to KLCC was definitely a two-thumbs-up therapy for me. Wish I can go there every weekend with some ‘incentives’ in my purse!! Dream on…

Thank you! You know who you are!

Summer with Sabrina

Monday blues creeping in.

I woke up at 9am with the thought of cooking lunch (which i normally don’t, except on weekends). but of course i watched Oprah 1st and darn the topic was on losing weight. I don’t care, am gonna cook "manok nek seriah" anyway. So determined. Undeterred. 050606_1319

Later in the afternoon after the cleaning up and checking up my msgs, (got 1 from Lila, she’s gorgeous!) i went straight to the kitchen and began preparing. Then i realized i need to go to pasar malam tonite cuz literally my fridge is empty. As i was peeling off garlics, tumeric n stuff then i recall one of my fav cooking show, "Summer with Nigella". The beautiful housewife would prepare her meals passionately and the way she meticulously describes her food, gets u to salivate promptly. For instance last week when she speaks of her peaches,"beautiful skin, these peaches are gorgeous and luscious…". I decided to cook like it’s as if I’m in my own show, "Summer with Sabrina"; with Tyger & Donutt (my cats) as my dribbling audience. Amazingly this time around the chicken that i cook tastes much better. Then i deduce a theory, maybe cooking is like gardening you know, you’ve got to have passion and humanize the ingredients then maybe it’ll work.

Hehe… i think tomorrow i’ll try it on a fried cencaru fish. Now, how would you describe a cencaru?

Weekend, Kancil & Poula

Bloated.

I hate weekend. I just don’t like weekend cuz it means i have 2 stay at home and cook and my Mr.Macho gets d cable all 2 himself, 24 hours. d menu 4 2day is kylie kwong’s chilli squid, baby kailan n ginger prawn. easy…

can’t wait to catch "SUPERMAN" & "CARS".

speaking of cars, i went to KLIMS at PWTC last tuesday and i finally had a glimpse of my fav car,  a shiny BENTLEY plus the car that i build my dreams onto, Honda Civic. The peak of everything was of course the mini show by ASIMO d humanoid robot. He(or it?) was undeniably adorable. Nothing much a girl can do at motor shows except collecting goody bags,n i grabbed some indeed. And i pray hard dat i’ll win d smart forfour so i can sell it off n get myself a civic instead. (yes, i mean pray really hard)

yesterday was my best buddy’s b’day but i didn’t hear from her 4 quite a while. i wonder what she did 4 a celebration. Miss Butterfly has turned 25. What would i do without her. Miss my friends.

U wanna hear something creepy? When i was in UiTM, i drove 2 class (although i was a resident); in my white kancil. Everyone identified me as ‘Sabrina Kancil putih’. When i graduated, mak sold off this kancil 2 buy an auto kelisa 4 my am-not-driving-manual-Sis. My sis is studying in Unimas and often goes 2 UiTMCS 2 visit her friend, Nola. There, she had seen my former white Kancil 4 numerous times; somehow it found its way back 2 where it always went to. That’s creepy no.1.

Creepy no.2- My ex-roommate back then from UiTMCS, Poula; contacted me recently. She told me the creepiest thing and it involves my former white kancil. She told me that her new best buddy(also a collegue) is driving the very same white Kancil and this buddy of hers is a reminiscent of me.Guess what? This buddy is the 3rd owner the white kancil and has nothing 2do with d owner who had been 2 UiTMCS before this! The hair on my neck raised immmediately. It’s as if, no matter what, this white Kancil wants 2 be a part of my life… How creepy is that? Allah is great. Maybe He wants me 2 acknowledge His power and simply to signify that Poula n I are meant 2b d BEST of friends. I miss u so much Poula!! Having experienced this, I vow 2 keep in touch. Poula is the the most understanding & thoughtful friend that I ever had. She has the most genuine intention of a friend of which is rare 2 find nowadays. Maybe later on I’ll get her a Hallmark card just 2 say how much i appreciate the friendship that we have.

Feel like crying…

Better type-off now before i lose my mood 2 cook.

Then it knocks me in the head. I’ll get my exam result next week, how did do? Marina got 3.96, congrats girl. She deserves a 4.00 in fact.

Feel feverish now…arrghhh wish me luck, i need it.
